3 Axis Skull Kit in a Lindberg or GYS Skull

01MarkedOff

Step 1:

Set the Skullplate in the skull and mark where you are going to put the screws with a magic marker, or pencil or make a scratch, whatever you want to do.

I would recommend not using a dark marker like this in case you get some on an area of the skull that will show, but we will use it here to make it easier to see.

The fewer parts that are mounted on the skullplate when you do this, the easier it will be. In this example, we just have the Jaw servo mounted. You can do this step first if you want before mounting any hardware.

The three areas that we have marked are probably the best spots to attach the skullplate. The exact location of the holes is not important. Use spots where the skull and skullplate are fairly flush with no gaps for best results.

The spots we have chosen have the most solid plastic area so when you drill , you won't run into a pre-cut hole.

Make sure that the skullplate is flush with the top of the skull.

Step 2:

Remove the plate and put it in a vise if you have one. Drill into the edge of the plate at all the spots that you marked in step 1. You only need to go about 3/4 of an inch in.

Try to center the hole on the edge of the plate.

Use a 3/32" drill bit.

Step 3:

Drill a matching hole through the skull where you made your mark so the hole lines up with the hole in the plate.

The center of the hole in the skull should be about 1/8 of an inch down from the top of the skull. This will allow the skullplate to be mounted flush with the top of the skull.

After drilling all the matching holes in the skull, use the provided 1/2 inch long #4 wood screws with the slotted heads to attach the plate to the skull.

To make the process easier to see, we have attached the plate without all the hardware.

Normally, prior to attaching the plate and screwing it in for the final time, you would mount all the hardware

Step 4:

Here you can see all three screws holding the plate in place. Again, we are showing you this with just the Jaw Servo attached.

It is easiest to drill the holes in the plate before mounting any hardware, and all hardware should be mounted before screwing in the plate for the final time.

It is a good idea to screw the plate in once before mounting anything on it, just to make sure everything is lined up right before you continue.

Then remove it and start mounting hardware.
